1) The importance of Child Theme

HubSpot Child Theme is valid for any theme you download from HubSpot Marketplace, and it is a great option where you can get future updates for the theme you downloaded directly from Marketplace, and you can make custom developments without leaving the original theme.

2) Difference between "Cloning the Theme" and "Creating Child Theme" on HubSpot

You downloaded a theme from HubSpot Marketplace and you want to modify it. You cloned the Theme instead of creating a child theme. At this point, you just broke the connection on the Marketplace by cloning. This means that you will not receive future updates from the theme developer. 

So the main difference between Theme cloning and creating a Child Theme is:  
     -A child theme is both Marketplace dependent and offers flexibility allowing you to do custom development.
     -In theme cloning, however, the Marketplace connection will be broken and you will not be able to receive              developer updates. You can only do custom development. 

Whether you want to do custom development on the theme, we recommend that you create your pages by creating a child theme as soon as you download it. (existing modules may not be sufficient in the future and you may want to develop new ones. So it is very useful to do this in the first place.)

3) How to create a child theme on HubSpot in 7 Steps?

Creating a child theme is pretty straightforward for all themes on HubSpot whether you're technical or not.

Please follow these steps:

1) First download your theme and go to your portal's dashboard.

2) Navigate to Marketing > Files and Templates > Design Tools

3)  On the left panel
    @marketplace > wwwfreeloperscom > theme-delight > Right Click > Create child theme

4) Write (Theme DeLight X) with your "Company Name" 

Example: Theme DeLight X "Company Name"

Click > Create child theme button

5) Your child theme is ready.

6) Let's get to the stage of creating our pages using the child theme.

Marketing > Website > Website Pages > Create > Theme DeLight X Company Name

4) What If you have created your pages before creating a child theme?

This is not a problem. You can change the template of the pages you have created later by following these paths.

• "Select any page and edit" >
• Settings >
• Advanced Options >
• Use Different Templates >
• Select Template Anyway
• Be sure that it should be the same template as your current "X.html". This is needed so as not to break the current content.
  • If the Template used on this page is home.html, please use Delight Home page
  • Another example, If about.html, use Delight About page
• Theme DeLight X "Company Name" > Delight Home > Use Template

You can check your pages' templates by following these steps:
